Tether, the issuer of the world’s largest stablecoin, has minted $1 billion USDT on the Tron blockchain. According to Arkham Intelligence, this transaction was completed without any network fees. The event highlights Tron’s efficient and cost-effective infrastructure.
Tether Transaction Details
On November 14, Tether created $1 billion USDT using a “black hole address” on the Tron blockchain. The newly minted funds were then moved to Tether’s multi-signature wallet. From there, the stablecoins were sent to Tether’s treasury. All of this occurred without any transaction costs, thanks to Tron’s fee-free process.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino commented:
“This transaction reaffirms our commitment to an efficient and scalable platform for stablecoin users worldwide.”
Comparing Tron and Ethereum for Tether
As of now, Tron hosts $62.7 billion in USDT, compared to Ethereum’s $62.9 billion. Tron has become a key player in the stablecoin space, challenging Ethereum’s dominance. Its lower fees make it especially appealing for remittance users in developing regions.
